The Detroit police officer named Coffee (Ed Helms) who has fallen in love with a woman named Vanessa (Taraji P. Henson) who is a mother of a 12-year-old child named Kareem (Terrence Little Gardenhigh).

Kareem felt dislike for Coffe, was uncomfortable with the white policeman at home, preferring a drug dealer named Orlando (Ronreaco Lee) instead.

When Orlando was arrested, where he was captured with a large amount of cocaine ready to be marketed on the street, Coffee was responsible for transportation, inadvertently allowing criminals to flee, very nice person named Watts (Betty Gilpin) who was an oppressive detective .

Feeling an opportunity, Kareem was looking for Orlando, hoping he would kill his mother's new lover, only to catch the kingpin and also his men kill a police officer in front of the camera.

Now on the run with Coffee, who was framed for the crime, Kareem was forced to spend time with Coffee, with the couple working on difficult roads and also dealing with Vanessa's anger, hoping to clear Coffee's name.
